The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Watershed Management Division is offering a series of information sessions on Lake Encroachment and Shoreland Permitting as it relates to the Shoreland Protection Act. In the TRORC Region, there will be a session at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee on June 16, 2015 at 6:15-7:15.

The Shoreland Protection Act (Chapter 49A of Title 10 §1441 et seq.) establishes a new state regulation for guiding shoreland development. The intent of the Act is to prevent degradation of water quality in lakes, preserve habitat and natural stability of shorelines, and maintain the economic benefits of lakes and their shorelands by defining standards for the creation of impervious surface and cleared area in shorelands.
