Vital Communities and Keys to the Valley have rescheduled the virtual Homes for All Summit: Exploring Housing Solutions for the Upper Valley on Friday, October 28, from 9 am to noon.
Do you serve on your town’s housing committee, planning commission, or zoning board? Do you volunteer with a local housing advocacy group? Are you interested in helping to solve the housing challenges in your community? If so, then this event is for you.
The Summit will include time to hear and discuss housing stories in action from the community, as well as breakout sessions to learn more about possible zoning, financing, infrastructure and land-use solutions for your towns. See the agenda and register below!

Town plans have been required since 2018 to take into account large blocks of forest and how they connect. These blocks are critical to healthy ecosystems, clean water, as well as the wood products industry. Join Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission on the evening of November 17th to learn why these areas are important, how to consider them in town plans, and what you can do through subdivision regulations to allow for sustainable development and preserve forests.

Capital Budgets and Programs are valuable tools for towns. This training is aimed at increasing Town capacity to create and maintain Capital Budgets and Programs. The training will cover the basics of Capital Budgeting and Programming, the importance of reserves, and ties to Town Plans, among other concepts.
This training is free and open to the public. Planning Commissions, Selectboards, Town and Village Treasurers, Administrative Assistants, and Town Managers are highly encouraged to attend.

The changing climate is bringing many challenges for businesses, including extreme and more variable weather, water restrictions, supply chain disruptions, and measures by the government to curb emissions to help meet greenhouse gas reduction targets. Led by the Upper Valley Adaptation Workgroup (UVAW), this interactive session will include a panel discussion by representatives from local businesses as well as a presentation on how businesses can access resources for climate funding, by Andrew Hatch, Energy Efficiency Program Manager at Resilient Buildings Group, Inc. in Concord, NH.Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how to make short-term decisions that will have long-term benefits to local businesses, the local economy, and the community as a whole.
UVAW is a bi-state, multi-stakeholder working group of leaders and partner organizations. Started in December 2011, the workgroup meets monthly to focus on building climate-resilient communities in the Upper Valley. Since 2017, UVAW has been housed at Vital Communities, a nonprofit based in White River Junction, VT, with a mission of bringing people together, bridging boundaries, and engaging our whole Upper Valley community to create positive change. UVAW’s previous public forums have explored such topics as preparing for just and prosperous climate migration, protecting land and wildlife in a changing climate, impacts on farms, managing droughts and downpours, and mobilizing local communities for resilience.
