Description: With the increased frequency of severe flood events, planning for more flood-resilient communities should be a top priority for towns across Vermont. This training will cover some of the most important ways towns are involved in flood safety, including the benefits of strengthening flood regulations, why participation in the National Flood Insurance Program is important, and examples of the types of projects that towns can undertake to reduce the risk of flooding. This training is geared toward zoning administrators, Planning Commissions, Development Review Boards, and other town officials interested in improving flood resiliency in their communities.
