Stagecoach Expanding 89er North Service to Barre State Offices

Randolph, Vermont… On March 25, Stagecoach is expanding its 89 North Commuter Service to offer an express route connecting Randolph, Northfield and Barre. This new route will provide access to economical transportation for regional commuters and residents needing access to new state offices that have been relocated from Waitsfield to Barre. The Barre expansion will leave the Stagecoach Depot at L Street in Randolph at 7:00 AM with stops at the Randolph and Northfield Park & Rides and arrive in Barre at 7:45 AM. An afternoon return trip will leave Barre at 4:45 PM and arrive in Randolph at 5:35 PM.

“This expansion of our 89er North Commuter service will allow Stagecoach to meet an emerging need to access the new state office facility in Barre,” said Jim Moulton, Tri-Valley Transit Executive Director. “We have a wonderful opportunity to support state employees in their commute to a new location.” The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) has awarded Stagecoach Transportation, a division of Tri-Valley Transit Inc., a grant to expand the bus route serving residents along the I-89 corridor from Randolph north to Barre.

The Barre Extension service will be offered free of charge through Memorial Day to encourage passengers to try out the new route. Following the holiday, one-way fares will remain low at $2.00 and state employees can purchase a discounted 10 ride pass for $10.00 by calling Go! Vermont at 800-685-7433, giving all riders the opportunity to financially benefit by leaving their cars at home and sharing their commute with others.

Stagecoach enhances the social, environmental, and economic health of the region by providing safe and accessible community transportation services for everyone. For more information, please contact them at 802-728-3773 or on the web at www.stagecoach-rides.org.
