TODD MENEES RIVER MANAGEMENT ENGINEER

Vermont DEC Rivers Program

Todd has contributed to the authorization of Stream Alteration Permits, providing technical assistance for in‐channel activities for private and public landowners, assessing the stability of Vermont’s rivers, overseen the design and construction phases of river related projects and river restoration projects, and provided trainings and technical assistance on the topic of river mechanics and the interaction of rivers and transportation infrastructure.

 

STACI POMEROY – RIVER MANAGEMENT SCIENTIST

Staci has contributed to the development of scientific methods to assess the stability of Vermont’s rivers, provided technical assistance to geomorphic assessments and river projects, and conducted many trainings on river processes.

 

LEE SIMARD FISHERIES BIOLOGIST DISTRICT 1

Vermont Fish & Wildlife

Lee assesses, manages and protects fish populations and their habitats in lakes and streams throughout southern Vermont. He works on coldwater and warmwater sportfish populations as well as rare, endangered and threatened fish species.

 

BRET LADAGO FISHERIES BIOLOGIST DISTRICT 3

Vermont Fish & Wildlife

Bret’s work is focused in Vermont’s central fisheries district, which includes the White, Waits, Ompompanoosuc, and Ottauquechee River watersheds. He evaluates waters to help maintain sustainable and healthy fish populations for the people of Vermont.

 

BERNIE PIENTKA FISHERIES BIOLOGIST DISTRICT 4

Vermont Fish & Wildlife

Bernie is responsible for monitoring fish communities in Lake Champlain, permitting statewide fishing tournaments, managing trout fisheries in the lower Winooski and Missisquoi River,

conducting rainbow smelt and alewife assessments in Lake Champlain and monitoring walleye populations in Northern Lake Champlain .

 

PETE EMERSON FISHERIES BIOLOGIST DISTRICT 5

Vermont Fish & Wildlife

Peter has been with the department since 2007. He is responsible for managing fisheries and fisheries habitat in the Northeast Kingdom.

 

About

Participants will gain the skills needed to develop riverside infrastructure maintenance and repair to increase the stability of rivers and the lifespan of infrastructure. This two‐day workshop includes lecture and related field work to help accomplish river infrastructure maintenance and development goals.

 

IMPORTANT!

A portion of this class takes place outside so you should be prepared for weather events. Wear tall rubber boots, hats, sunscreen, sun glasses; have rain gear available,

and make sure you are protected against ticks.
