The Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC) held our 2024 Annual Meeting on June 26, 2024, outside of our offices in Woodstock, Vermont. Our Board of Representatives was joined by TRORC staff and community members for the election of officers, announcement of scholarships, and Volunteer of the Year award presentation.
We are excited to announce that our Executive Committee Officers will continue their excellent service. The officers include William Emmons, Chair (Pomfret); John Echeverria, Vice Chair (Strafford); Peter Berger, Treasurer (Fairlee); and Nancy Jones, Secretary (Bradford). Brian Loeb (Norwich) will join Nancy Malmquist (West Fairlee) and Ken Alton as Executive Committee Members-At-Large. We are grateful for their strategic insight and community involvement.
TRORC was pleased to award ten $2,000 scholarships to high school students residing in one of our 30 towns and pursuing career and life choices aligned with the vision and values of vibrant, diverse, and sustainable communities. Nancy Jones, from the Scholarship Committee, shared that from an impressive set of applications, a total of ten students were selected for this year’s award. We appreciate the support from TRORC Commissioners for this investment.
This year, TRORC was delighted to present the Volunteer of the Year Award to Alma Roystan of Newbury, Vermont. Alma was nominated by a fellow community member for her dedication, ensuring everyone had a voice, and fostering thoughtful decision-making processes. Her leadership in the Tucker Mountain Town Forest project and volunteer work during the COVID-19 pandemic helped unite her community.
We look forward to furthering our community engagement by building on the strong foundation we have established. Our aim is to support sustainable initiatives and empower residents to create vibrant and resilient communities.
