The GUVTU Regular Chapter Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 5th in the downstairs meeting room at The Norwich Inn in Norwich, VT. Ray Obar, an accomplished tier of salmon flies, will be presenting this month on a bit of history, common materials and patterns, and also providing a tying demo. If you have a request to see a specific pattern tied, please contact Ray directly and he will try to fit it into the program: [email protected]. Doors will open at 6 pm and Ray will begin at 6:30. Food and drink will be available for purchase (there will be a Norwich Inn server available to us).
The Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will be hosting a series of ice jam / springtime flooding summits across the state.
At these meetings, which will be open to all and geared towards local public officials, the following partners will give presentations:
o U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) regarding Ice Jams;
o National Weather Service regarding seasonal conditions and ice jam and flooding prospects;
o Vermont Agency of Transportation;
o Vermont Agency of Natural Resources regarding a new on-line reporting system for Emergency Protective Measures and technical assistance availability;
o Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) regarding the State Watch Officer Program, DisasterLan, Local Emergency Operations Plans, etc.
