Renewable Energy Conference and Expo 2015 @ Sheraton Hotel and Conference
Oct 8 – Oct 9 all-day

Renewable Energy 2015 (RE 2015) is Vermont’s annual convention bringing together key players in the renewables sector. This year’s conference, slated for October 8 & 9, highlights current energy challenges, Vermont’s leadership role in the energy industry, and the steps needed to implement an integrated energy infrastructure.

Nationwide and here in Vermont, the closure of coal and nuclear facilities, concerns around “fracked” gas, and instability in oil-rich regions are driving markets to implement renewable energy and efficiency-based solutions to address our increasing energy demands. RE 2015 is bringing together leaders and experts from throughout the region to address the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Thriving Communities: Building a Vibrant, Inclusive Vermont @ Norwich Public Library
Oct 15 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

This seminar will offer usable perspectives on providing housing choices, transportation options, and employment opportunities for a range of people at different levels of income; and on building economically vibrant, inclusive communities in Vermont.

Thriving communities welcome a mix of people, regardless of race or ethnicity, and they embrace diversity. These communities include younger and older people, people with different abilities and people with children, families with rising incomes and families on fixed incomes. They promote a mix of land uses and building types, creating opportunities for economic growth, essential services, stable businesses, agriculture, and tourism.

The seminar is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the statewide Thriving Communities* campaign.

We hope to engage both policymakers and interested citizens in this discussion concerning the future potential of your towns and neighborhoods.

Forest Service Webinar
Nov 4 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Forest Service Northeastern Area will be hosting a webinar featuring the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Data Dashboard on Wednesday, November 4th, from 11:00 AM – noon (EST), presented by Scott Pugh (USFS Northern Research Station, FIA).  Please feel free to share this announcement with others in your agency and beyond:

Using Tableau Business Analytics software, the folks at FIA have created Dashboards that allow users to more easily access, explore, and visualize FIA data and findings.  The visual (a picture is worth a thousand words) and interactive nature of Dashboards provides a depth of delivery that cannot be matched by current hard copy or pdf publications.  The Dashboard can deliver data similar to that in FIA’s typical annual pdf reports, but with far more depth and customizability.  Join us for this webinar as we take the Data Dashboard for a test drive!
