Recovery Funding

The federal CARES Act includes $5 billion in funding for the HUD- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.  Vermont’s share will result in more than $4.7 million to assist communities across the state recovery from COVID-19.  Much like after Tropical Storm Irene, this special allocation of CDBG funds will be available to rapidly respond to COVID-19 and the economic and housing impacts caused by it, including the expansion of community health facilities, child care centers, food banks, and senior services.  The VT Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is expecting further guidance from HUD on the timing and availability of funds.  DHCD is gathering comments on the COVID-19 recovery needs of communities and how CDBG funding may help respond to those needs.

Greetings.  This is an invitation to the first of two Applicant Briefings for organizations seeking to receive FEMA funding reimbursement for emergency protective measures related to COVID-19.  Information and guidance about this funding and how to register and apply for it is available at https://vem.vermont.gov/news/information-federal-public-assistance-eligibility-covid-19.  The powerpoint presentation used during the Applicant Briefings will be posted there on Monday.

The dates are:

State Applicant briefings for COVID-19 DR 4532 on Tuesday, April 14 at 1 pm and Thursday, April 16 at 2 pm. 

If your municipality or non-profit organization submitted a Request for Public Assistance under the emergency declaration, EM-3437, and/or if you have submitted or intend to submit a Request for Public Assistance under the major disaster declaration, DR-4532, you should participate in this briefing.
