Fall NEARC GIS Conf. @ Sea Crest Beach Hotel
Oct 16 – Oct 19 all-day
The NEARC Fall Conference is not just for the GIS faithful. Yes, NEARC is for GIS practitioners, but NEARC is for anyone who wants to see the value GIS technology brings to their own environment and the world. This conference is very valuable for new users as well as those who have been using GIS for many years.

If you are going to attend NEARC this fall, you might consider also bringing along your Supervisor, Town Manager, DPW Director, IT Director, and your Finance Manager; anyone who would benefit from seeing the value of GIS first hand. You will absolutely walk away saying “NEARC is worth every penny!”

Highlights include:

  • Technical trainings from Esri
  • User to user sessions
  • Poster presentations
  • Community building activities
  • GIS Educators Day

Free VTWARN Seminar and Tabletop Exercise
Oct 20 @ 8:00 am – 3:30 pm

Thursday, October 20, 2016
Bethel Town Hall
318 Main Street ∙ Bethel, Vermont 05032
Do you ever worry that you won’t have what you really need to respond to a water or wastewater emergency? Maybe you’ll need trained water or wastewater operators, engineers, water quality specialists, or supplies such as specific valves, chemicals, testing devices and equipment.
The Vermont Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (VTWARN) is a network of “utilities helping utilities.” This network helps water and wastewater utilities locate emergency assistance in the form of personnel, equipment, materials and other services. The VTWARN is proudly hosting a free event that includes an emergency response seminar and a tabletop exercise (TTX).
Emergency Response Seminar and TTX Description: The event will consist of morning seminar presentations covering topics related to VTWARN, as well as water and wastewater preparedness and response. The afternoon TTX, based on a hypothetical scenario, is designed to bring together water, wastewater, public safety, local and state agencies to discuss roles and responsibilities. This seminar and TTX are open to member utilities and non-member utilities, as well as response partners that are interested in learning more about VTWARN.
Training Hours: An application will be made for Vermont water and wastewater operators to earn training hours toward their license renewal requirements for their participation in the event.
Event Timeline: Thursday, October 20, 2016
 Check-in: 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
 Presentations: 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
