Pittsfield LHMP Strategy Meeting

Hazard Mitigation Planning

 

The Town of Pittsfield is in the process of updating its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. Local Hazard Mitigation Plans enable towns to qualify for grant funds, and they make our communities safer. The second Pittsfield Hazard Mitigation planning meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2020, at 6:00 PM via Zoom. The focus of the meeting will be to draft mitigation strategies for town-identified top hazards.

 

The meeting is open to all interested community members.

Local Hazard Mitigation Plans are part of an effort by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reduce damage from foreseeable natural and human-caused hazards. Kristi Herzer and Kim Caldwell of the State of Vermont Dept. of Env. Conservation (DEC)

Kevin Geiger, Senior Planner of the Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC)

Colette Santasieri, Executive Director at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)

 

An introductory overview of Brownfield Redevelopment in Vermont is provided in this kickoff webinar. James Byrne will provide a short presentation of USEPA Region 1’s Brownfield program, with a focus on case studies in Vermont.  Kristi and Kim Caldwell will present Vermont’s Brownfield program, state liability scheme, and funding options.  Kevin Geiger will provide a short presentation of the TRORC’s Brownfield Assessment Program.  Colette Santasieri of NJIT’s Technical Assistance Brownfields (TAB) program will provide information regarding free resources that are available to assist Brownfield redevelopment in Vermont. The workshop will include a roundtable discussion with these experts, moderated by James Snook.

Windsor County COVID-19 Recovery Forum: Response and Recovery to Renewal

On October 8th from 6:30-8:30pm, the Local Solutions and Community Action Team established by Governor Phil Scott invites you to join a virtual COVID-19 recovery discussion to connect with others in Windsor County to:

  • Share challenges and ideas for community recovery and resilience as we look ahead to the coming fall/winter months
  • Connect to others working to build long-term community and economic resilience
  • Meet with a “visiting team” of state, federal, business, and non-profit leaders who will share recovery strategies from across the state and ideas for resources and support
