Required Agricultural Practices (RAPs) Proposed Rule: Public Hearings

Five public hearings will be held on the newly released Required Agricultural Practices (RAPs) Proposed Rule. All meetings are 12:30pm – 3:30pm.

June 22, 2016: Brandon American Legion, 590 Franklin St, Brandon

June 23, 2016: Vermont Law School, Chase Center, 164 Chelsea St, South Royalton

June 28, 2016: Newport American Legion, 160 Freeman Street, Newport

June 29, 2016: Brattleboro American Legion, 32 Linden Street, Brattleboro

A public comment period on the Proposed Rule will be open until July 7, 2016. For more information and for a copy of the rule, please visit the Agency’s website on the RAP. Public comment can be submitted to the Agency’s RAP e-mail inbox or by mailing written comment to the Agency of Agriculture at 116 State Street, Montpelier, VT 05620.

Sampling will take place on every other Thursday in the morning (times may be variable, but generally before 9:30 AM). The specific monitoring dates include: June 23, July 7; July 21; August 4; August 18; September 1

TRORC is asked to prioritized identified pavement leveling segments on State Highways put forth from VTrans Maintenance Districts. Rita working on map to present as this task was released a week ago.

Rita will showcase the VTransparency website for all your transportation questions related to town projects.

Please join staff from the Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission, Southern Windsor County Regional Planning Commission, and regional watershed planners and program managers from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation for a regional discussion on clean water initiatives focused on current and new programs to preserve and protect this precious resource.

5:40     A facilitated open discussion of what are perceived as water pollution challenges and opportunities in the region – Regional Planning Commission staff

6:00     Description of proposed rule changes to Vermont’s Water Quality Standards, specifically around B1 and A1 waters – Neil Kamman, VTDEC

o   Effect of proposed changes on land use activities

o   Increased protection these will provide

o   Relation to Tactical Basin Plans
