2) Recycled Asphalt Shingles – James “Buzz” Surwilo, Solid Waste Management Program
Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (9:40am – 10:15am)
By 2020, asphalt roofing shingle collection and recycling will be offered statewide. ANR and VTrans are piloting a project of testing a mixture of ground Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) and natural aggregate for use on the driving surface on town highways. We had $10,000 in grant money to subsidize the cost to towns to give it a try. We gave about $3500 to Pownal and Shaftsbury last year, so we’ve about $6500 left. The presentation describes RAS, the potential benefits, BMPs, and the pilot project expectations.

A public information meeting to review preliminary design options for the Quechee Gorge Bridge Rehabilitation Project will be held on Monday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Hartford Town Hall, 171 Bridge Street, White River Junction.
Vermont Agency of Transportation staff and its bridge consultant, Gill Engineering, will receive public input on design elements of the planned bridge project. Sidewalks, railings, and barrier fencing options will be displayed before final project plans are drawn up. This is an opportunity for the public to voice its preference on design elements while plans are still preliminary. After the preliminary plan is refined and approved by VTrans, final plans for the project will be developed in 2019-20.
If you have questions, please call or write Jill Barrett. View the project website at https://vtrans.vermont.gov/projects/quechee
