Annual Meeting
Department of Public Safety – Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium are offering a special training, Rail Car Incident Response.
The free course will be held at the Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River, VT on April 30, 2016 from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Further information on the course can be found on the RDPC website https://www.ruraltraining.org/training/schedule/2016-04-30-awr147-wellsriver-vt-001/.
Target Audience:
Emergency responders, especially fire and law enforcement, as well as emergency managers and freight/rail industry representatives who want to gain a basic working knowledge are encouraged to attend. Hazardous materials technicians may attend but content is designed at the awareness level
Course Description:
Rail Car Incident Response is an eight-hour, awareness-level training program developed to educate rural emergency responders on freight rail car incidents involving hazardous materials.

We must act now to protect our treasured people and places. Join us for the first Resilient Vermont Network conference and gear up for the challenge.
This interactive event will bring together community leaders, municipal officials, organizations and agencies working to strengthen Vermont’s resilience to climate change and other challenges. Gain the skills, ideas, inspiration, connections and resources for on-the-ground action to make us all stronger, more vibrant, and better prepared.

Conference sessions: We want to feature your work, stories, challenges and your solutions. This is an action-focused conference, so as much as possible we’re crowdsourcing breakout sessions, trainings, field trips and workshops that will help people take action and improve resilience.
Case studies: We’re seeking great ideas and innovations in resilience! We’re looking for a few stories of projects that make our communities and environment safer and better prepared for climate-related challenges. These replicable, innovative, and impactful projects will help shape the conference!

Vermont faces numerous water quality challenges attributable to human activity. Wastewater management, stormwater runoff from impervious surface associated with roads, homes and businesses, drainage from farm fields and logging roads, and historic hydrologic modification of our streams and rivers all impact current surface water conditions. Act 64, Vermont’s 2015 Clean Water Act, validated that healthy waters are essential to our economy, health, property values, recreation, fisheries and wildlife, and the Vermont brand. Vermont Environmental Consortium’s 5th annual Water Quality Conference will highlight the tremendous opportunity for innovation in water quality management by showcasing a wide-range of efforts currently underway in Vermont to protect, restore and enhance clean water.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, in cooperation with the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development will be hosting Municipal Day on September 9, 2016 at the National Life Building in montpelier, VT. Registration will begin in June 2016.
What is it?
The all-day event will offer poster presentations, workshops, technical assistance, and the opportunity to engage with Agency staff members and municipal colleagues from across the state. More information about presentation and workshop content will be coming soon.

The CRJC Mt Ascutney Subcommittee is once again organizing a free Septic System Workshop for homeowners. The feedback from past years was super positive. This year’s workshop will be held on September 17 from 10 to 12 in Springfield Vt.
| The NEARC Fall Conference is not just for the GIS faithful. Yes, NEARC is for GIS practitioners, but NEARC is for anyone who wants to see the value GIS technology brings to their own environment and the world. This conference is very valuable for new users as well as those who have been using GIS for many years.
