The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources is sponsoring a symposium in Burlington to mark the 40th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act. Keynote speakers and panels of experts will examine the future of conservation biology and discuss the legal challenges ahead for preserving Vermont’s natural heritage. The AVCC’s 2014 Annual Summit will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 8am-4pm at Montpelier High School in Montpelier. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with conservation commissions from across the state, learn more about scientific concepts that underpin AVCC’s work, and discuss emerging issues in our communities. Cost for dues-paid members of AVCC is $10 or $30 for unpaid members. To register, visit this link, and be sure to include a note that your payment is for conference registration. The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR), in cooperation with the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD), invite you to participate in When Governments Cooperate: State Government Municipal Dayat the National Life Building in Montpelier on Thursday, November 13, 2014.
When Governments Cooperate: State Government Municipal Day is a day-long event that will include poster presentations and workshops, and the opportunity to engage with Agency staff members and municipal colleagues from across the state. Space is limited and on-line pre-registrationis required.
The day begins with coffee and poster presentations followed by a kick-off plenary session at the National Life cafeteria. The plenary session will include remarks from the Agency heads of ANR, ACCD and VTrans where you’ll hear about the upcoming issues and opportunities we see for municipalities.
Workshop sessions will run during the morning and afternoon. You must pre-register for workshops as seating is limited. The registration fee includes both morning coffee and a buffet-style lunch by the New England Culinary Institute at the National Life cafeteria. The event will take place from 8 am – 4:15 pm.

Join the Vermont Environmental Consortium and Vermont Technical College for their conference discussing various components of the carbon cycle, including Big Bertha (VTC’s biodigester), the campus carbon footprint/food systems, and other renewable and sustainable practices conducted on site. The day will include site tours, and discussions for building more carbon conscious communities.
Join Vermont Housing Finance Agency and other sponsors, including TRORC, in forums on the biggest challenges and opportunities facing Vermont’s housing markets. This is an exceptional opportunity to network and hear presentations with other housing financers, advocates, developers, planners, tenants, and others. Registration is open until October 31st, and includes lunch, on-site parking, a reception, and access to all exhibits and workshops.
