Weatherize kick-off event – Barnard @ Danforth Library
Oct 22 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The Barnard Energy Committee is bringing two programs to town to make weatherization accessible to everyone. Everyone is invited to a Kick Off event at the Danforth Library on Monday, October 22 at 7:00 pm to learn more.

Weatherization means improving the air tightness of your home. It can lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable.

Efficiency Vermont’s Button Up Hero program offers a free walk-through assessment of your home and an estimate prepared one of their pre-selected certified contractors. Incentives and rebates may be available to people who decide to weatherize their homes as part of this program.

Capstone Community Action offers no-cost weatherization to Vermonters in their service area — which includes Barnard — who meet income and other qualifications. Sonja Withington, a local resident who works for Capstone, will be at the Kick Off to speak about the program. She will have brochures and other information.

Mark the Kick Off on your calendar and watch the list-serv for more information. Feel free to talk to any of the organizing volunteers, who include Elizabeth Ferry, Patrick Kell, Karen Thorkilsen, and Sonja Withington. We look forward to helping Barnard weatherize!  For more information, contact Elizabeth at [email protected]

*Monday October 29th 6:30PMWoodstock Town Hall, 2nd Fl Conference Rm*
Halloween can be scary with all the monsters, and resurrected movie
characters running around, but it is also an indicator of something far
scarier, HIGH HEATING BILLS! Winter is around the corner, and this is Count
Vapid’s( the heat-sucking vampire) favorite time of year. Vermont has the
2nd oldest housing stock in the country, which means that Count Vapid stays
well-nourished from all the old houses sending their expensive heat right
out their leaky roofs!

You can stop Count Vapid from visiting you this winter by weatherizing,
insulating and air sealing your home! This year Woodstock is collaborating
with Efficiency Vermont as a Button-Up Hero Community.  As a Button-Up Hero
community residents can receive a free walk-through assessment, scope of
work and cost estimate from a qualified contractor vetted by Efficiency
Vermont. Residents sign up by completing a brief survey by following this
link, https://buttonupvermont.org/event/woodstock-button-community-hero-launch before December 15. Walk-throughs will be completed between November and March, and Efficiency
Vermont will offer prizes for residents who commit to a home energy project
by Earth Day in April 2019. In addition, we will host engagement activities
and hand out free energy efficiency kits!

Join Sustainable Woodstock and Efficiency Vermont for our launch event to
learn more about the program, how to save money on your energy bills, to be
more cozy in your home, and to reduce your carbon footprint, and sign up
for a free energy visit with Van de Ven Construction LLC, our partner
contractor. Pizza, Door Prizes, and treats will be provided!
