Municipal Energy Resilience Program
The applications for MERP’s Community Capacity-Building “Mini-Grants” and Municipal Building Energy Assessments are now open! The application for the Assessments closes on 10/31/23. Please coordinate with TRORC and your town’s selectboard in order to apply.
The Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) is coming to a town near you! MERP is a $45,000,000, ARPA-funded state program that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from public buildings while helping towns save money on their utility bills. There are three separate funding opportunities available through MERP: Community Capacity-Building “Mini-Grants” of up to $4,000 each, Municipal Building Energy Audits, and Project Implementation Grants of up to $500,000 each. MERP was established by Act 172 of 2022. Please follow this link for the full text of the statute.
Applications for the Mini-Grants opened on Town Meeting Day in March 2023 and were followed by the Assessment applications in July of 2023. The Assessment application will remain open until 10/31/23.
